GENERAL INFO:
ALL acts are eligible for an award nomination.
Nominations can be based on many factors, such as the uniqueness nerve and talent showcased in the project.
Artistic courage, innovation, and boundary-breaking are as crucial as the work ethic of the acts involved.
THE #STOFF2023 FRINGE AWARD JURY PROCESS:
Our award jury nominates three candidates for each category.
The outcome of the awards is based on opinions gathered from the award jury, mystery shoppers (industry delegates), and reviewers.
The festival core crew and volunteers also have a say. A great show that's performed by a rude cast will get minus points.
Many award winners get offers to perform at other international festivals. Their STOFF FRINGE AWARD label often helps them to apply for funding, gain the attention of new audiences and media!
The most significant award is the one voted for by the audience! Our online voting starts on the first day of the festival and wraps up hours before the festival wrap party! VOTE HERE!

FOR CAPTURING THE ATTENTION OF A GREAT AUDIENCE!
MOTIVATION: For creating a visually stunning on screen experience with excellent use of colour and form!
Motivation: Great fun! Very self-aware, playful yet thought-provoking piece. A well-rehearsed and choreographed circus piece with an artful blend of spectacle and humor. The piece was set on top of themes of masculinity and a reflection of modern living. It used comedy to win the audience over and then pull them into more thoughtful areas. Very charming and massively enjoyable.
Motivation: For bringing on stage a quality piece of new work for a new reality!
Motivation: For personifying the true spirit of the fringe on and off stage!
Motivation: Amazingly deep thoughtful piece of story telling. Very moving and has been the piece that make you think the most. expertly crafted and structured with such care. truthful and honest. Very moving, very humorous and selfaware moments that made fun use of the medium of projecting directly from Facebook pages. Best thing we’ve seen in a while and will be thinking about it for long after the festival!
Motivation: Very interesting and imaginative performance. An impressive acrobatic display with the unusual setting of having the audience surround the performer - it felt very immersive. The audience sat on stage in the round with "string cup telephones" stretched across the stage from one side to the other - and we got to interact with the person sitting opposite ourselves. The piece started with a very clever device of having pre-recorded audio, balanced perfectly so the audience believed it was live audio, introducing the performance, and while we were distracted the performer silently crept into position so that to us she appeared out of nowhere. The piece ended in a similar way by having the audience talk to one another and, while we again were distracted, she vanished. a very unique and charming experience.
Motivation: For giving flesh, blood, and soul to a very personal story that brought the jury members to tears. Valerie David is a true storyteller that captures the essence of spoken word and theatre making.
