Our awards jury have nominated three candidates for each category. The outcome of the awards is based on opinions gathered from the award jury, mystery shoppers (industry delegates) and reviewers. The festival core crew and volunteers also have a say. Here are the #Stoff2016 award results. A massive congratulations to the winners and nominees.
Why do artists choose to participate in Fringe? What is it that draws them in to the Fringe vibe and keeps them coming back year after year, touring around Fringes from one side of the world to the other? We asked our Stoff 2016 artists these questions and here’s what they had to say.
The Stoff 2016 programme is here and ticket sales are now live! From rent-a-friend to mermaids, lesbians to talk show hosts that decapitate their guests, the 2016 programme is a mind-blowing extravaganza of chaotic beauty that will keep you entertained for six days straight.
The Gothenburg Fringe Festival had a small pilot project version of its festival back in 2014. Now it returns for the main course in 2016! With less than a month to go until showtime, we spoke with Gothenburg Fringe team member, Isabel Lagos, to get the low down on what we may get to see at the first official full-sized Gothenburg Fringe fest!
Hej everyone! We’ve been super busy here in the Stoffice. Our programme is being launched in just a few weeks (EEK!) and our UK-based visual designer, Lee Simmons, has been heads-down, bums-up perfecting our stunning new branding for 2016. We can’t wait to show you what she has created!
BEST OF FRINGE
From Melbourne, Prague and Edinburgh to Sopot, Amsterdam and Brighton. The Fringe awards are cultivated world wide by hundreds of festivals across the globe.
We always encourage our artists to document their journey pre / during / post their Stoffholm visit. The journey to a festival is as important as the main event.
Stoff 2015 introduced a new festival format spread out across the city of Stockholm with multiple venues (as opposed to one large complex like Kulturhuset). The festival was changed back to October, the original month the festival took place in it’s inaugural year (2010).
Stoff 2014 celebrated artistic bravery, equality, and the Fringe’s ability to capture what matters here and now.
Stoff 2013 catapulted the notion of the Fringe to new heights. Young Stoff artists mixed with Hollywood Royalty in a wild mix of theatre, performance, spoken word, site specific, music, photo, video, new circus and “the other”.
European culture project TK2013 & DepArtments incorporated.
Main venue: Kulturhuset Stadsteatern
Front cover artist: Louis Lander-Deacon (UK)
Stoff 2013 directors: Helena Bunker, Lina Karlmark, Adam Potrykus
For the 2nd year running, SkyODD co-produced a reusable water bottle with Stockholm Fringe Festival.
For the bottle design, we asked Stoff 2013 headline act, John Malkovich, to write something about the importance of creating and why the concept of Fringe festivals is important. This is what came by fax from the other side of the Atlantic:
